Now is the time to transition your customers’ G Suite Basic and Business subscriptions to Google Workspace. Beginning January 31, 2022, Google can automatically transition your customers once they are eligible.

October 6, 2020 Google launched the new offerings with the intention of moving customers from G Suite to Google Workspace with minimal disruption and no data loss. Over time, all legacy G Suite customers will transition to Google Workspace.

Transitioning does not affect your Google Workspace data or service availability.

If you prefer to wait, we’ll notify you at least 30 days before it’s your turn to automatically transition. Eligibility to automatically transition is on a rolling basis, beginning in November 2021.

Legacy G Suite free edition—the original Google Apps offering for businesses and schools—16 years ago. In 2012,they discontinued this service and Legacy G Suite free edition will no longer be available starting July 1, 2022. They will no longer be supporting the Legacy G Suite free edition after July 1, 2022.

G Suite Basic & Business (Paid Edition)– all legacy G Suite customers will transition to Google Workspace.They are encouraging customers to self-transition ahead of any auto-transition. If preferred, Google can auto-transition customers. Specific communications with a transition plan will be sent a minimum 30 days before the auto-transition will take place.Google Workspace Business editions can have up to 300 users. Customers with more than 300 users will transition to one of our Google Workspace Enterprise editions, which provides additional productivity features, enterprise-grade administrative controls, and our most advanced security and compliance capabilities
